Planning the sesaon

We're now well into planning this year's season, and hope to open for the general public around the first week of June. Better accomodation, better exhibitions and generally more variety on the menu is our main aim to enrich peoples visit at Slettnes this summer.

Classic Slettnes material

The Norwegian public service broadcaster paid Slettnes a visit in connection with it's 100th anniversary in 2005. The  lighthouse was still manned. Nice footage of landscape, seascape and buildings on a windy summer's day. In Norwegian.

Winter at Slettnes

Winter has finally got a firm grip on the extreme north of Europe. Ice-cold winds from the south frequently reaches speeds about 15 m/sec, and enjoying Slettnes requires clothing and equipment like that of minor polar expeditions. But the sun will soon be back, and before too long, birds and tourists alike will again start to move northwards. We hope this blog will prove a useful tool when it comes to informing the latter mentioned group about what they can experience here.
